MDF is reformed
into wood sheets in a diversified form of widths and lengths. Bonding is achieved by the addition
of resin adhesives, that are cured underneath
heat and pressure. Paraffin wax is combined
to help with water repellent, whereas alternative chemicals may be added throughout producing for additional specific protection.
MDF is primarily used for internal use applications, in part
due to its poor moisture resistance. It is available in impure form with a fine
sanded surface or with decorative overlay such as wood veneer, melamine paper
or vinyl.
